Personal Statement

Former coordinator of the Grazing Reform project at the Center for Biological Diversity in Tucson, Arizona (www.biologicaldiversity.org), and instigator of a collaboration with ranchers that resulted in the arrival of legislation in Congress in October 2003 for a buyout of public land grazing permits in Arizona (www.azbuyout.org). Martin has moved back to his home country Australia where he is preparing to begin similar work to stop land degradation by livestock on public lands.
