Final BLM Conservation Efforts for Greater Sage-grouse and Sagebrush Habitats Report to FWS 11/24/2004

Some correspondence  from Insiders

"Have you been able to get a copy of the 600-700 page report that BLM submitted to FWS as their BLM input to the Sage-grouse status review. We understand that it is pretty creative !!!!!!! In fact, to date, we within BLM have NOT been able to see it. It should be a public document as it detailed to the FWS all of the good things that we are doing out on the landscape and yet we can't see it.?"

"You might want to FOIA that Baby big time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"you have just received Ch 4 which is the risks/threats chapter. My understanding is that the FWS did NOT take a serious look at the Regulatory Mechanisms aspect as required by the ESA (one of the 5 listing factors). The new regulatory changes should play right into the argument that BLM does NOT have workable regulatory mechanisms"

"The BLM 600-700 page input to the status review listing process was sent to the FWS as BLM's official input and is therefore a public document. Not surprisingly we haven't even seen the entire document, only Ch 4 because we have been asked to review our LUPs for adequacy."
